Anyway, a while ago, my buddy Justin and I spent a much needed night in the dirt. We got out amongst the trees to hike, sweat, and muse about life. Our wives had a sleepover too, so we didn't have to feel bad about leaving them behind. Hey, they could have come, but apparently females want toilets and showers or some nonsense like that.
We drove out east to the Pacific Crest Trail and hiked north to Mt. Laguna. After setting up camp, we continued our hike north, exploring an empty campground along the way. Closed for the winter, we were the only ones there, and it was somewhat eerie. We ate lunch at a panoramic overlook of the desert. We then hiked back to camp.
Later that night, once the sun had gone down, we saw a serial killer psychopath. Or at least it could have been. An SUV appeared out of nowhere on the dirt road that ran about 50 yards behind our camp. What was that person doing in the middle of the woods at night? Obviously hiding the bodies. To avoid being the next two victims, we stayed quiet until the headlights disappeared.
The night was cold. That's all that can be said about it. It dropped down to somewhere in the high teens to low 20's, I think. God bless the goose feather, as our sleeping bags kept us toasty.
The next morning, we hiked back to the car, rejuvenated. Any time we need to destress from work or life, a night in the dirt hits the spot.
